"The Family" by Jeff Sharlet is a must read. It addresses this very issue, where the elite are courted and told they were chosen by God, Hitler and Mao are praised by told that they erred because they should have made absolute power about Jesus not themselves. And the kicker, the social teachings of Jesus are shunned and the poor can just pray for salvation.

Sounds like dark ages to me. I also wonder if CEO of Goldman Sachs who told a gathering in London that he was doing "gods work" is a member of The Family?

Vloribk, I'll have to disagree on the constitutional convention part. The first one was a counter revolution actually. I've done some research on it and that period. The people who landed on top for the majority saw the English aka Bank of England British East Indies Company model as the one to emulate. They also rigged the constitution to embed and advance their interests in several ways. Having another constitution convention with this pack of feudalists around the idea would imo be very, very dangerous. The reaction to the French Revolution was essentially fear that that it would spread to the US. Based on that alone, I'd say that they thought that they had something to fear. As to the reset I fully go along with Istavan Meszaros, that in these times we need to be working at the micro-level to build a culture of change. I am working on a paper now toward both reviewing a few community currency/community exchange advocates and toward merging that agenda with the monetary reform effort of the American Monetary Institute. The idea is to convert essentially a strategy for transition into a strategy of transformation. Meszaros advises against the expectation of a mass movement. This also works toward the culture build process of real cultural. The great man model was itself BS and a product of late feudalism itself. Otherwise, I'm with Vlorbik

The problem with the article is that it, as most of its ilk, seems to have trouble letting go of the Bush era and realizing that the fruits of today's Democratic Party are indistinguishable from those of the Republicans. We are given two "rival" parties to keep the people off balance and continually replacing one with the other while the agenda (and the result) are unchanged. It is not about party any more than it is about race. I fear that you yourself may have difficulty swallowing this.

Hating and blaming Bush is disengenuous. George was never smart enough to be that evil. Neither is Barak, though he is good at giving the impression of high intelligence as long as there is a teleprompter or while the interview questions have been previewed. The root of the evil is to be found in the handlers on both "sides." If you want to know where the evil is, follow the money. Republicans (professional ones) are not getting it all, neither are Democrats. Sure, they get their take, but they are not the source of the cancer. CEOs, corporate types who continue to rake the big bonuses are an identifiable group. I'd also be extremely interested in who it is that makes sure every piece of new regulatory legislation comes complete with a "beginning date" that is sufficiently far into the future that billions can be quietly deposited off shore without overly disrupting the money supply (more than it is.)

I am not sure if restoration of 1960s era purchasing power is the answer. That led to the economic manifest destiny that is so well satired in the song I sent you a link for. The belief in limitless expansion and wealth led to the growth among the elite.

What we need is to hit the reset button. Have a constitutional convention, go into a parliamentary system, refigure our currency and banking system, and institute the Jubilee and Sabbath Year system.
